About this collection

Welcome to The National Catholic Welfare Council (NCWC)/Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Photograph Collection! This collection contains 63 selected photographs that represent seminal charitable activities of the CRS during and after World War II spanning the years 1940-1969.

Purposes

The purpose of this collection is twofold. First, the USCCB has a huge collection of photographs which depicts in detail the 100-year history of its humanitarian support and services to refugees of wars, victims of disasters and homeless children all over the world. The digitized photographs of the selected collection representing the main theme of refugee recover and resettlement will be on display at the centennial celebration of USCCB in November 2017.

More importantly, the digitization of these unique photographs will not only provide free and open access to the mass audience, but also help preserve the unique, valuable but fragile materials for information they conveyed which might otherwise be lost.
